Shear pin hilt for knife
Abstract
An impact-resistant knife hilt comprising a hollow handle containing a clevis with shear pin connecting the knife blade to a bolt passing through the end cap of the knife handle. Such a knife is readily assembled and disassembled by tightening or removing the bolt while the hilt with shear pin reduces the risk of blade breakage upon their impact.

Universal clip
Abstract
A universal clip for carrying objects such as a holster or other object on the belt of a wearer. The clip includes an elongated body of generally flat material such as sheet metal with an integral hinge pin socket at one end region and a pair of integral catches at the other end region. A resilient member such as a length of spring wire extends through the integral hinge and pivots into a spaced parallel relationship with the body and is secured by the integral catches. The resiliency of the spring wire allows reliable engagement with the catches. The body and the leg portions of the spring wire define a flat tunnel through the clip for receiving the wearer's belt. The integral hinge pin socket extends generally from side to side of the clip and thereby provides a stable support for any object carried.

U.S. Patent 4,821,356 |
Military bayonet and scabbard
Abstract
A bayonet and scabbard are capable of being pivotally connected to constitute a wire or metal tape cutting implement having a recess shaped to capture the wire or tape before such cutting begins. The bayonet blade has a tang extending into the bayonet handle which is of a yield strength greater than that of the handle but less than that of the bayonet blade. A finger guard is provided with notches adjacent the blade for engaging an edge of the cap of a receptacle for removing the same.

Knife or bayonet scabbard
Abstract
An improved knife or bayonet scabbard of rigid material including a body and a clip. A swivel connection between the two allows limited rotation of the body with respect to the clip when the clip is extended for belt wearing. The body is restricted from rotation when the clip is realigned to an aligned position for inverted wearing as on the chest. The body includes an integral catch on one side of the blade receiving opening and an internal spring on the opposite side for biasing the blade of the knife toward the catch. An auxiliary flexible loop aids in holding the knife or bayonet in the scabbard.

Bayonet system including bayonet with integral tang and scabbard with hand protection
Abstract
A bayonet system includes a bayonet and a scabbard in which the bayonet is received for storage. The bayonet is formed with an integral blade-and-tang unit. A plastic handle is molded over the tang, with a portion of the tang protruding from a butt end of the handle. A latch plate is attached to the butt end of the handle assembly by a radial rivet to the protruding portion of the tang. The latch plate includes a pair of retainer arms fixed to the latch plate with pins that can be driven out to effect removal of the release arms. The scabbard has a housing with an integral load assembly at its upper end, integral recessed tie-down loops adjacent to its lower end, and an integral hand guard extending from one side at a position intermediate the upper end and the lower end.
